The variety is great, but I try to achieve a feeling of connection throughout the house. Variations on a theme, but a sense of the whole. To often even fancy materials in a house can seem like a collection of parts and not a whole. Built-in cabinets and shelves tucked into what could be wasted spaces add interest and can save space and the cost of furniture.
